Language for Living is a school specializing in teaching English as a Second Language. We offer individual classes and small group classes to both children and adults at our language school in Scarsdale, New York, or private English tutoring in the student’s home. Every teacher has a Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and New York State Certification in that field.

About Usor Living is a school specializing in teaching English as a Second Language.

Our main goal is to help students to be able to communicate in English. Therefore, we stress conversation and listening skills. In addition to traditional grammar, students learn how to have phone conversations, make “small talk”, open and close a conversation, introduce and develop new topics, and make complaints, among other communication skills.

To further facilitate student’s progress, we use many different methods. Videotapes, jazz chants, cooking, audiotapes and computer programs are used to help make English more interesting and vital. For adults, we use a newspaper written especially for people who are learning English, so that students can develop their English in relation to real events that are important in the world.

Language for Living also provides support for students in their academic studies. Specialists are available for tutoring social studies, science, English and math. T.O.E.F.L. and S.A.T. preparation are available in both group and individual classes.

Lessons are available for the whole family. Adults are taught in the mornings, children are taught after school, and business courses are held on the weekends.

The teachers are eager to help their students to adjust to life in the United States as quickly as possible. They provide information about American customs, holidays, schools, camps, local food stores, and even good sales in the department stores!
